Mission Statement?
Through the creation of art, I seek to increase beauty in the world. A simple enough thing to say, perhaps, but a difficult thing to truly accomplish. To capture the sunlight on a basket of roses or the supple curves and lines of a young body is a thing any well-equipped photographer can do; I am not in the business of employing anecdotal moments to inform the viewer what he should find beautiful. My interest is more in the paths to joy and beauty, little snapshots and splices of the process of discovery and becoming, which in and of themselves might not be "pretty" to look at. A situation which might create greatness within or better understanding of the world might seem horrible at its most direct and immediate level. I beg the viewer to consider that which upsets, which causes fear, and especially that which simultaneously attracts and repels. Peel back the layers, look past face value, and ask yourself about the meaning one attaches to a given symbol or idea; there is as much within as there is without - or is there? This process of psychological self-surgery is what I call "visceral metaphysics", the name I have also given to my painting style.
Thank you for coming and looking; I hope you get something out of your visit. I would prefer that people directly email me, and as such, do not provide a virtual "guestbook" to sign.
I highly recommend interacting with them in person whenever possible, as the internet really doesn't do them justice.
Thanks for reading this.
