The first born son of Cthulhu and an elusive extra-terrestrial entity known only as Idh-yaa, Ghatanothoa was also imprisoned on Earth, within a mountain on the now-submerged continent of Mu. He was broadly worshiped but rarely represented in art, for his appearance was notoriously horrible, said to be able to turn men to living mummies or statues with a single view. This struck me as typically superstitious of a primitive culture, and seemed more likely that Ghatanothoa, whether or not he possessed any particular physical qualities attractive to humans in his preferred forms(being composed of matter alien to this world), was afflicted with gaseous emanations or spores that destructively effected those who dared enter his mountain prison. I also decided he would rather like some ice cream, and is somewhat bent out of shape at being left out of family photographs.
